Here we retrace the history of the Dakar Urban Fabric Initiative project, implemented in Senegal between June 2020 and October 2023, by a group of local, national and international organizations bringing together urban, technical, architectural and mobility expertise, conducting participatory approaches oriented towards strengthening the power to act of residents and stakeholders in the territory and institutional mobilization. The objectives of the Dakar Urban Fabric Initiative were to improve the appropriation of future collective public transport equipment by users and all stakeholders, particularly the most vulnerable, by developing shared public spaces. designed to meet needs in precarious neighborhoods in the suburbs of Dakar.
